As my Photoshop trial has ended. I just did the ink drawings without the additional touching up, so it is at its most tradition and basic. Here's a famous feature to the island - The Jersey Cow!

Rocqueberg the Witches Rock

This is another Jersey folklore, this time around Rocqueberg in the parish of St Clement's, a place known to be a gathering place for witches. One man called Hubert fell asleep at the rock and was surrounded by witches who were disguised as young girls. Another photoshop piece but with more limited colour as it creates a sense of eeriness.

Geoffrey's Leap Illustration

This is another Jersey Folklore illustration based on Geoffrey's Leap in St Martin where a convict had to jump off a rock to his death who succeeded in surviving his first attempt but died on his second after spectators encouraged him to do it again.

Robert Burns Poster

This is a poster I done for my uncle advertising an event celebrating the poet Robert Burns in New York. This is continuation of me using Photoshop. Really good getting back into this sort of stuff!!

Saint Helier - Saxon Pirates

Now that I have temporary Photoshop, I can go back to a process I enjoy doing which mixes brush pen drawings on its own with photoshop creating another way I can do these illustrations. This is of the saxons running towards the hermitage rock before killing the saint.

This is more experimental work.

Saint Helier, the Hermit monk

After a good couple of months after Uni, I managed to get myself a photoshop trial which lasts for 30 days. This illustration is of the tale of Saint Helier, the hermit monk who lived off Jersey before being murdered by saxon pirates.

The Jersey Lily

These are more of Berry Pomeroy Castle with the bottom being in Plymouth at night at the military fort behind the Hoe and Barbican.

These drawings are a mix of Gouache paint and chalks. I find these drawings much more of an improvement as the gouache really helps as a base colour giving the chalks more depth. I am looking at Devon Folklore for my current project. So I went to Berry Pomeroy Castle, perhaps one of the most haunted castles in England. It was a very atmospheric place to be among.

This is one of the possible posters that is going to represent the showcase. This is a combination of two brush pen drawings both layered and worked ontop with photoshop continuing the formula of my successful New York piece for the Blanket Calender.

Drawings of Devon

For my final major project, I am drawing around many of the landscapes and buildings around Devon which could result in a either a walk/history book or a book jacket for a crime novel as many of the drawings are rather moody and atmospheric. These drawing are mainly around Totnes which have been Photoshoped. I think these drawings would look good as Silkscreens so I might do more of that later into the project.

It is hard to do Metaphor's so I just took some keywords and illustrated them.

They were done with pencil, brush ink pen and photoshop.

A-Z Plymouth City

This is more drawing for the A-Z journey animatic of Plymouth. There is a change of colour and style as we are in the busy, grey city centre. This is expressed more through charcoal and brush pen. And the way it is drawn is more abstract and block like.

We are having a big christmas party on the top floor of the roundabout pub, Plymouth, Thursday 10th December.

I created one of the posters for the party. A combination of drawing and photoshop which I have done on previous work.

Got chosen in Calender Competition!

These are drawings at the barbican from the 3d project but I have gone over them on Photoshop; adding colour and tones. These are gonna be sold in Drake Circus on Thursday 19th of November. Probably costing around £1.50 each in either a card or a postcard. (Prices maybe lower than stated).

New York illustration for calender comp

This Ink Brush Pen/Photoshop piece of New York, I entered into a calender competition for Blanket Magazine. It was meant to be an illustration of a holiday destination. I found using the Brush Pen to be quite effective after being frustrated using pencil with photoshop.

Wembury Mono Prints

These are some Mono prints I have done after location drawing at wembury.

This form of Mono is much better than drawing from the back of the paper into the ink.

Location Stuff!

Here is some drawings done on location at Wembury which is a beach on the outskirts of Plymouth. Has such a beautiful church. Weather was so cold and my hands were like ice!

2nd year exhibition, Summer 2009, University of Plymouth

This is just a sample of things I have done at the end of the second year of Illustration, including an Etching and Silkscreen of the Tamar Bridge, Printed Ceramics of the Barbican and Photoshop drawings of the Sylvia Plath Poems. Also including sketchbooks.

This is the close up of my Ceramic's including some sketchbook work of some location drawing. One of my favourite aspects of illustration!!
